LG Electronics has recalled approximately 500,000 electric ranges due to a fire hazard. The United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after receiving 86 reports of unintentional activation of front-mounted knobs, leading to at least 28 fires, 5 of which caused over $340,000 in property damage. There have also been 8 minor injuries and 3 pet deaths reported. The affected ranges were sold from 2015 to January 2025 at various retailers including Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe s, and LG.com. LG Electronics, through its Senior Vice President John I. Taylor, stated that the ranges have a built-in safety feature called 'Control Lock/Lock Out' and is providing free warning labels to customers to remind them to use this function.
