Rick Buckler, The Jam Drummer, Dies

Rick Buckler, the drummer for the influential British band The Jam, passed away on February 17 in Woking, U.K., at the age of 69. His death was confirmed by former bandmate Paul Weller on social media, who expressed deep sadness and reflected on their journey from rehearsing in a bedroom to achieving success. Another bandmate, Bruce Foxton, also shared his devastation, praising Rick Buckler's innovative drumming. The cause of death was not officially provided, but Rick Buckler had canceled a spoken-word tour two weeks prior due to ongoing health issues. The Jam, formed in 1972, became known for their mod-style rock, punk, and soul-influenced music, achieving numerous hits in the U.K. before disbanding in 1982. After The Jam, Rick Buckler formed The Times and later The Gift, and also worked as a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Lesley, and two children.
