Jo-Ann Stores Liquidation and Closures

JoAnn Fabrics, an 80-year-old fabric and crafts retailer, is going out of business and closing all of its approximately 800 stores nationwide. This decision follows its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in less than a year, citing sluggish consumer demand and inventory shortages. Initially, JoAnn Fabrics planned to close 500 stores, but after failing to secure a buyer to keep the company operational, it announced the closure of all locations. SK Group, along with JoAnn Fabrics's term lenders, acquired the company's assets through an auction and will oversee the winding down of operations and conduct liquidation sales. The company had previously emerged as a private entity after a March 2024 bankruptcy filing but continued to face operational challenges.
