The successful launch and high booking numbers for Ultraviolette Automotive's Tesseract electric scooter indicate strong consumer demand in the Indian EV market, potentially boosting investor confidence in the electric two-wheeler segment. This event could also intensify competition among EV manufacturers in India, leading to further innovation and market expansion.
Ultraviolette Automotive, a Bengaluru-based EV startup, launched its first electric scooter, the Tesseract, in India. The Tesseract was initially priced at an introductory rate of Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 customers, which was later extended to 50,000 customers due to overwhelming demand. The company received over 20,000 bookings within 48 hours and surpassed 50,000 bookings within two weeks. Deliveries for the Tesseract are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The Tesseract features a 20.1bhp electric motor, a certified range of up to 261km, and advanced safety features like dual radars, front and rear cameras, blind spot detection, and collision warnings. Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette Automotive, highlighted the scooter's iconic design and segment-defining features.
