Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India was conferred with Mauritius' highest civilian honor, The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, by Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. This marks the 21st international award for Narendra Modi and he is the first Indian to receive this recognition. The award acknowledges his contributions to strengthening ties between India and Mauritius. During Narendra Modi's visit, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, including one between the Mauritius — Bank of Mauritius and the State Bank of India on a Local Currency Settlement System, and a Credit Facility Agreement between the Government of Mauritius and the State Bank of India for infrastructure projects. Narendra Modi also announced the issuance of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards to Navin Ramgoolam and his spouse, Veena Ramgoolam, further underscoring India's commitment to its diaspora and bilateral relations with Mauritius. The visit also included Narendra Modi attending Mauritius National Day celebrations as Chief Guest and visiting an Ayurveda garden developed in collaboration with the Government of India.
