Trump Administration Weighs 41-Country Travel Ban

The Donald Trump administration is considering a new travel ban that would impose sweeping restrictions on citizens from 41 countries. An internal memo, seen by Reuters, divides these countries into three groups: 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, would face a full visa suspension. Five countries, including Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan, would experience partial suspensions affecting tourist, student, and some immigrant visas. The remaining 26 countries, such as Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, would be considered for partial visa suspensions if they do not address 'deficiencies' within 60 days. This move is part of Donald Trump's broader immigration crackdown, echoing a similar ban during his first term that was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018. The list is still subject to approval by the administration, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
