The recall, announced by the United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is due to a faulty folding mechanism that can cause the handlebars or stem to fold during use, posing a significant fall hazard. Ninebot — Segway has received 68 reports of mechanism failures, resulting in 20 injuries including abrasions, bruises, lacerations, and broken bones. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled scooters and contact Ninebot — Segway for a free maintenance kit to inspect and adjust the locking mechanism.
