Daughter's Dogs Maul Mother to Death

Jessica Hoff, 47, was arrested and charged with criminal negligence resulting in death and 54 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Her 76-year-old mother, LaVonne Hoff, who suffered from dementia and required 24-hour care, was found mauled to death by dogs at Jessica Hoff's Colorado City home. Authorities discovered a total of 54 dogs and seven birds living in unsanitary conditions across two properties owned by Jessica Hoff. An autopsy confirmed LaVonne Hoff died from a dog attack after being left alone by her daughter. Several dogs were euthanized due to severe medical conditions or suspicion of involvement in the attack, while others were adopted.
