Miller Gardner Carbon Monoxide Death Confirmed

Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, died on March 21 while on vacation with his family at the Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort resort in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Initially, asphyxiation and food poisoning were considered as potential causes of death, but these theories were later ruled out. The Costa Rica — Judicial Investigation Department of Costa Rica confirmed that Miller Gardner died from carbon monoxide poisoning, with toxicology results showing a lethal carboxyhemoglobin saturation of 64%. Investigators detected high levels of carbon monoxide contamination in the family's hotel room, which was adjacent to a machine room believed to be the source. The Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort resort, however, stated that while high levels were found in a mechanical room, the levels in the guest room were non-existent and non-lethal. The investigation is ongoing.
