Israel Revises Rafah Emergency Worker Killings

Israel's military has revised its initial account of the killing of 15 emergency workers from the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the Civil Emergency service, and the United Nations near Rafah on March 23. Initially, Israel claimed soldiers opened fire on suspicious vehicles, killing nine militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad. However, video evidence published by the Iranian Red Crescent Society and testimony from survivor Munther Abed contradict this, showing clearly marked emergency vehicles being targeted. The United Nations and the Iranian Red Crescent Society have demanded an independent inquiry into the incident, with Australia also calling for an investigation. Israel's military is currently examining the video and is expected to present conclusions to army commanders.
