Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 850,000 vehicles across the United States due to a defect in the low-pressure fuel pump that could cause engines to stall while driving, increasing crash risks. The recall, announced by the United States — National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on July 8, affects a wide range of Ford and Ford Motor Company — Lincoln Motor Company branded models from recent years, including certain Ford Bronco, Ford Explorer, Ford F-Series, Ford Mustang, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. Ford Motor Company estimates that 10% of the recalled vehicles have the defect. While Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue, owners will be notified starting July 14. A remedy for the problem is currently under development, and a second notification will be sent once a fix is available, with repairs to be provided free of charge at authorized dealerships.
