Sandhu, who had taken delivery of the crashed aircraft in 2013 and was a designated examiner for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, agreed to join the investigation. Pilot unions, including the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Associations, had previously expressed concerns about the lack of subject matter experts in the probe. A five-member team, led by Sanjay Kumar Jha, is conducting the investigation, supported by various specialists. The United States — National Transportation Safety Board has also offered its support and cautioned against premature speculation regarding the cause of the crash.
