The United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Canada — Health Canada issued notices due to a design flaw where compression straps on the pools can create a foothold, allowing small children to climb in unattended. This flaw has been linked to nine drowning deaths of children aged 22 months to 3 years old in the United States between 2007 and 2022. The recalled pools, which are 48 inches or taller, were sold by major retailers including Walmart, Oracle Corporation, Lowe s, Costco, Amazon (company), Sears, Toys "R" Us, Transformco — Kmart, Walmart — Sam s Club, Home Depot, Big Lots, and BJ s Wholesale Club since 2002. Consumers are urged to contact the manufacturers for a free repair kit, which includes a rope to replace the compression strap, or to ensure children cannot access the pools unsupervised.
