Pura Scents has initiated a recall of more than 850,000 Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers, including 851,400 units in the United States and 1,100 in Canada. The recall is due to a defect where magnets inside the detachable covers can detach, posing a severe ingestion hazard to children. If swallowed, these high-powered magnets can cause serious internal injuries, including perforations, blockages, infection, blood poisoning, and even death. The United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has highlighted the dangers, and Pura Scents has received three reports of magnet detachment, though no injuries have been reported. The diffusers were sold at major retailers such as Oracle Corporation, Amazon (company), and Scheels, both in-store and online, from August 2023 to May 2025 for approximately $50. Pura Scents is offering free replacement covers and advises consumers to immediately dispose of the existing detachable covers and keep the diffusers out of reach of children and pets.
