Maharashtra Social Media Guidelines for Employees

India — Maharashtra has issued new social media guidelines for its government employees, including those on contract, deputation, and in local bodies and public sector undertakings. The rules prohibit employees from publicly criticizing the policies of India — Maharashtra or the India — India, sharing confidential documents without authorization, and using official insignia in personal posts. Employees must maintain separate personal and official social media accounts and are barred from using banned applications. Violations will lead to disciplinary action under the India — Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1979, and the India — Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979. The guidelines aim to prevent misinformation, leaks, and misuse of official content.
