Australia's Eris Rocket Test Flight

BioServe Space Technologies, an Australian private company, conducted the maiden test flight of its Eris rocket from the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in Australia — Queensland. The rocket, designed to carry small satellites to orbit, crashed 14 seconds after liftoff. Despite the short flight, BioServe Space Technologies considered the launch a success, as it provided valuable flight data and marked Australia's first homegrown orbital launch attempt in over 50 years.
