Chris Bryant Discloses Abuse by Michael Croft

Labour MP Chris Bryant has publicly disclosed that he was sexually abused as a teenager in 1978 by Michael Francis Crotty, the then-head of the National Youth Theatre. Chris Bryant, who was 16 at the time, described being invited to dinner by Michael Francis Crotty, who was 40 years his senior, and subsequently being pressured into sexual acts at Michael Francis Crotty's house. Chris Bryant also revealed that he was sexually assaulted by five male MPs during his 24 years in United Kingdom, but did not report them due to a lack of system and fear of negative repercussions. The National Youth Theatre has issued a statement expressing gratitude to Chris Bryant for his disclosure, solidarity with victims, and emphasizing their current robust safeguarding policies, noting that Michael Francis Crotty has been deceased since 1986. Chris Bryant's revelations come ahead of the release of his book, 'A Life And A Half: The Unexpected Making Of A Politician'.
