Thomas Dundon, owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, has reached a tentative agreement to purchase the Portland Trail Blazers from the estate of Paul Allen for over $4 billion. The deal, which includes Marc Zahr of Blue Owl Capital and Sheel Tyle of Collective Global in Dundon's group, is pending ratification by the National Basketball Association's Board of Governors. Dundon plans to keep the Portland Trail Blazers in Portland and may discuss a public/private partnership for arena renovations. Paul Allen's estate put the team up for sale in May, following his will's directive to sell sports assets and direct proceeds to philanthropy. Paul Allen originally bought the Portland Trail Blazers in 1988 for $70 million. His estate also owns the Seattle Seahawks and a stake in the Seattle Sounders FC, which are not part of this sale.
