Charles III VJ Day Commemoration

Charles III will deliver an audio message and attend a remembrance service to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, commemorating Japan's surrender to the Allies in 1945. The message, recorded at Clarence House, will echo his grandfather George VI's historic broadcast and reflect on the sacrifices of Second World War heroes in the Pacific and Far East, including prisoners of war and civilians. The service, hosted by the Royal British Legion in partnership with the United Kingdom government, will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire and will be attended by Charles III, Queen Camilla, Keir Starmer, and Second World War veterans. A national two-minute silence, an aerial display by the Red Arrows, and a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will also be part of the commemorations.
