UK August Bank Holiday Travel Chaos

The United Kingdom is bracing for significant travel disruptions over the August bank holiday weekend, with an estimated 17.6 million car trips expected. The RAC has issued warnings about long delays on major routes, particularly in the South East and South West. INRIX predicts severe congestion on the M5 and M20. Concurrently, Network Rail is undertaking 261 engineering projects across Britain, leading to widespread rail service interruptions. London and North Eastern Railway and Lumo will see disruptions on Anglo-Scottish journeys, Avanti West Coast will operate reduced services, and India — Western Railway zone will have limited operations. CrossCountry faces severe disruption not only from engineering work but also from planned strike action by the RMT (trade union). Points of the compass will also suspend services on some routes.
