Narendra Modi visits Japan, China

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a four-day diplomatic visit to Japan and China from August 29 to September 1, 2025. In Japan, he will participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit in Tokyo from August 29-30, at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. This will be Narendra Modi's eighth visit to Japan and his first bilateral summit with Shigeru Ishiba. The leaders will review the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan, covering defense, security, trade, economy, technology, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. Following Japan, Narendra Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This marks Narendra Modi's first visit to China since 2018. On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, Narendra Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders.
