Viva Raw Pet Food Recall

Viva Raw, a North Carolina-based pet food company, has voluntarily recalled several lots of its dog and cat food products, including Viva Ground Beef for Dogs, Viva Beef & Turkey for Puppies, Viva Ground Chicken for Dogs, Viva Chunked Chicken for Dogs, Viva Chicken for Cats, and Viva Pure Chicken. The recall was initiated after routine testing by the United States — North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services found contamination with salmonella and listeria monocytogenes. The affected products were distributed directly to consumers nationwide and to select retailers in several states between July 2 and August 21. While no illnesses in pets or humans have been reported to date, the United States — Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings about the potential health risks associated with handling or consuming the contaminated food. Consumers are advised to dispose of the recalled products and contact Viva Raw for a refund.
