Casely Recalls 429K Power Pods

Casely has issued a recall for approximately 429,000 of its 'Power Pods' (model E33A) due to reports of lithium-ion batteries overheating, expanding, or catching fire, resulting in six minor burn injuries. The wireless phone chargers, manufactured in China, were sold on Amazon (company), getcasely.com, and other websites between March 2022 and September 2024. Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled chargers immediately and contact Casely for a free replacement. The United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission published the recall notice and, along with Casely, stressed the importance of proper disposal for lithium-ion battery devices, citing risks of fires in waste management facilities as noted by the Guyana — Guyana Environmental Protection Agency. This event follows a similar recall by Velvet Caviar for its MagSafe wireless power packs, indicating a recurring safety issue in the portable charging device industry.
