Van Hollen Meets Deported Garcia in El Salvador

Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador to meet with Deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man mistakenly deported by the Trump administration despite a U.S. court order preventing his removal. Van Hollen was initially denied access to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) where Deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia was held, but later secured a meeting. El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele publicly mocked the meeting and reiterated his government's refusal to return Deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. El Salvador has also accepted over 200 Venezuelan immigrants from the U.S., accused of gang activity, and placed them in the same maximum-security prison.
