US Citizen Hijacks Tropic Air Plane

A US citizen, Akinyela Sawa Taylor, hijacked a Tropic Air plane in Belize at knifepoint, demanding to be flown out of the country. During the incident, Akinyela Sawa Taylor stabbed three people, including the pilot and a passenger. The plane circled for nearly two hours before landing, where Akinyela Sawa Taylor was fatally shot by the injured passenger, who had a licensed firearm. Belizean authorities, led by Police Commissioner Chester Williams, are investigating how Akinyela Sawa Taylor boarded the plane with a knife, acknowledging the lack of rigorous security at smaller airstrips. The US embassy, with Luke Martin as public affairs officer, is assisting in the investigation, though details on Akinyela Sawa Taylor's background and motives remain unclear.
