The IPO of Ather Energy will provide capital for its expansion and R&D, potentially increasing competition in the electric two-wheeler market. This event offers investors an opportunity to participate in India's growing EV sector, while also testing market sentiment towards new EV listings.
Ather Energy, an electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced its Initial Public Offering (IPO) with a price band of Rs 304-321 per share. The IPO, opening from April 28 to April 30, includes a fresh equity issue of Rs 2,626 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 1.1 crore shares. Promoters Ather Energy and Swapnil Jain, along with investors like Apollo Global Management, GIC (sovereign wealth fund), National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, and IIT Madras, will sell parts of their stakes. Hero MotoCorp, the majority shareholder, will not be selling any shares. The funds raised will be used for capital expenses, including a new factory in Maharashtra, debt repayment, R&D, and marketing. This IPO marks a significant step for Ather Energy to bolster its market position against competitors like Ola Electric and TVS Motor Company.
