Rohan Dennis sentenced for wife's death

Former world champion cyclist Rohan Dennis received a suspended sentence in Australia for a car incident that resulted in the death of his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins. Dennis pleaded guilty to one aggravated count of creating the likelihood of harm after Hoskins was struck by his car during an argument outside their Adelaide home in December 2023. Judge Ian Press stated that while Dennis disregarded his wife's safety, he was not criminally responsible for her death. Dennis was sentenced to one year, four months, and 28 days in jail, suspended for two years, and his driver's license was suspended for five years. Hoskins' parents expressed relief that the case was over and hoped to move on, while also noting they had not yet received an apology from Dennis.
