Israel Blocks Greta Thunberg Aid Boat

Israel has vowed to prevent the Madleen, an aid boat carrying Greta Thunberg and other activists from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, from reaching the Gaza Strip. Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the naval blockade on Gaza is aimed at preventing Hamas from importing arms. The Madleen departed Italy — Sicily with the mission to deliver humanitarian aid and raise awareness about the severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Activists on board, including Rima Hassan, reported that their tracking and communication devices were being jammed as they approached Gaza. This incident follows a previous attempt by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition that failed after another vessel was attacked by drones off Malta, an attack the group attributed to Israel. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties and displacement in the Gaza Strip, with its population heavily reliant on international aid.
