Anker has issued a recall for over 1.1 million units of its PowerCore 10000 power banks (model A1263) in the United States. The recall, announced by the United States — United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is due to a lithium-ion battery overheating issue that can lead to fires, smoke, and explosions. Anker has received 19 reports of incidents, including two minor burn injuries and $60,700 in property damage. The affected power banks were sold online through Anker's website, Amazon (company), EBay, and Newegg between June 2016 and December 2022. Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled products immediately and contact Anker for a free replacement power bank or a $30 gift card. Proper disposal of the lithium-ion batteries is also emphasized due to fire risks, requiring contact with municipal household hazardous waste collection centers.
