Juneteenth Federal Holiday Observance

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, commemorates the day enslaved people in United States — Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom in 1865, two years after USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72)'s Emancipation Proclamation. In 2021, Joe Biden designated Juneteenth a federal holiday, expanding its recognition.
