UK Fridge Seal Check Heatwave

Households across the United Kingdom are being advised by Beko, a white goods manufacturer, to perform a simple check on their fridge and freezer door seals using a piece of A4 paper. This advice comes as the United Kingdom — Met Office forecasts a significant heatwave across the United Kingdom, with temperatures expected to reach up to 34C. A worn-out door seal can lead to increased energy consumption as the appliance works harder to maintain cold temperatures, and can also cause food to spoil more quickly. Salah Sun, Head of Product Management at Beko UK, explained the method: place a piece of paper against the door seal, close the door, and if the paper slides out easily, the seal may need replacing.
