Judge Blocks Trump's Harvard Student Ban

A federal judge, Allison D. Burroughs, blocked the Trump administration's efforts to prevent Harvard University from hosting international students. This ruling is a victory for Harvard University, which had sued the United States — United States Department of Homeland Security in May after its certification to host foreign students was revoked. The Trump administration, led by Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, had also cut over $2.6 billion in research grants, ended federal contracts, and threatened to revoke Harvard University's tax-exempt status, citing conservative complaints about the university's policies and alleged tolerance of anti-Jewish harassment. Harvard University President Alan Garber stated the university would not stray from its core principles. The legal battle had created significant fear and confusion among international students, with many considering transfers. Universities in China — Hong Kong even offered invitations to Harvard University's students during this period of uncertainty.
