The event has a negative impact on Disneyland's reputation due to the fraud and the disturbing nature of the staged wedding, potentially affecting future bookings or public perception. While not a direct financial hit, the incident could lead to increased scrutiny of event bookings and security measures.
A 22-year-old British man was arrested at Disneyland for allegedly staging a mock wedding with a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl. The event, which cost €130,000, was booked under false pretenses, deceiving Disneyland into believing it was a genuine wedding. The man claimed it was for a social media video. The girl's 41-year-old Ukrainian mother and two Latvian nationals were also arrested. Disneyland staff intervened, called the police, and shut down the event. The prosecutor's office in France — Meaux has opened a criminal investigation into fraud and breach of trust against Disneyland, with two suspects remaining in custody.
