CBSE Class 10 Exams Twice Yearly

The India — Central Board of Secondary Education (India — Central Board of Secondary Education) has approved a new policy to conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year starting from 2026. This decision, announced by Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 (National Education Policy 2020) which aims to reduce student stress and provide more opportunities for students to improve their scores. The first phase of the exam will be mandatory and held in February, with results in April. The second, optional phase for improvement will be in May, with results in June. Students can choose to improve scores in up to three subjects from Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and languages. Internal assessments will be conducted only once annually. This reform is expected to create a more flexible and student-centric assessment environment, potentially influencing other educational boards in India.
