Narendra Modi's Five-Nation Diplomatic Tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India is undertaking an eight-day, five-nation diplomatic tour from July 2 to July 9, visiting Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. The primary objectives of the tour are to strengthen India's bilateral ties with these nations, expand economic, energy, and defense collaborations, and enhance strategic partnerships in various sectors including agriculture, mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy. A key highlight of the tour is Narendra Modi's participation in the 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he will exchange views on global issues such as governance reform, peace and security, multilateralism, artificial intelligence, climate action, and global health. This tour marks several 'firsts' for an Indian Prime Minister in some of these countries in decades, signaling a renewed focus on strengthening India's engagement with the Global South. Bilateral meetings are scheduled with leaders including President John Mahama of Ghana, President Christine Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago, President Javier Milei of Argentina, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia. The BRICS leaders are also expected to denounce the Pahalgam terror attack.
