US National Pride Hits Record Low

A new Gallup poll reveals that national pride in the United States has hit a record low, with only 58% of U.S. adults expressing extreme or very high pride in being American. This decline is largely driven by Democrats and independents, with only 36% of Democrats and 53% of independents reporting high pride. In contrast, 92% of Republicans maintain high levels of national pride, creating the widest partisan gap since 2001. The decline is also attributed to younger generations, with Generation Z showing significantly less patriotism than older generations. Jeffrey Jones of Gallup notes that while Donald Trump's presidency contributed to a drop in Democratic pride, the trend of declining patriotism predates his term and continues across generations. Other polls by CNN and Survey of Income and Program Participation indicate widespread discontent and frustration with politics in the United States across the political spectrum.
