The release of IOS 26 and the IPhone 17 series by Apple Inc. is expected to generate significant consumer interest and drive sales, positively impacting Apple Inc.'s stock performance. The update's new features, especially Apple Intelligence, could also influence the broader technology market by setting new standards for mobile operating systems.
Apple Inc. is set to release IOS 26, its latest iPhone software update, globally around September 15–16, 2025. This follows the unveiling of the new IPhone 17 series, including the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, on September 9. IOS 26, first announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, introduces a refreshed Liquid Glass design, smarter Siri with improved natural language understanding, a redesigned Photos app, a new Passwords app, and enhanced Messages features. It also includes iPhone Mirroring on Mac, Tap to Cash in Wallet, Mail sorting, Journal improvements, and Game Mode. The update will be available for a wide range of devices, from the IPhone 11 series onward, including the IPhone 16e and newer. However, Apple Intelligence features, which are AI-powered capabilities, will only be supported on the IPhone 15 Pro, IPhone 15 Pro Max, and all IPhone 16 and IPhone 17 models. Older models like the IPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR will no longer receive iOS updates.
