The ongoing high-level meetings between India and United Arab Emirates are expected to boost bilateral trade and investment, particularly in non-oil sectors, which could positively impact companies involved in maritime, space, and other key industries. The review of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and Double Taxation Treaty could further streamline economic interactions, leading to increased market confidence and potential growth opportunities for businesses operating in both nations.

International Trade Financial Services Government

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is on a two-day visit to United Arab Emirates from September 18-19, 2025, to co-chair the 13th India-UAE High Level Task Force on Investments (HLJTFI) with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of United Arab Emirates — Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. The agenda includes reviewing the progress of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Double Taxation Treaty, and matters related to the central banks of both nations. Both India and United Arab Emirates are exploring new investment opportunities in key sectors such as maritime and space. Piyush Goyal will also co-chair the UAE-India Business Council roundtable with Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, and engage with CEOs from leading Indian and UAE companies. High-level meetings are also scheduled with Tahnoun Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor of the UAE and Chairman of Maqam International Holding, Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the United Arab Emirates — Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and Syed Basar Shueb, Managing Director of Maqam International Holding. The CEPA, which came into force in May 2022, has nearly doubled bilateral merchandise trade from $43.3 billion in FY 2020-21 to $83.7 billion in FY 2023-24, with a significant shift towards non-oil sectors. The goal is to increase non-oil bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2030.
