This marks India's first overseas defense manufacturing plant in Africa and is a significant step under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative to expand India's defense industry's global footprint. During the visit, India and Morocco are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation, aiming to deepen bilateral engagement through exchanges, training, and industrial linkages. The event underscores Morocco's drive for military modernization and its role as a gateway for India's defense exports to the African market. The facility, a collaboration between Sigma Advanced Systems and the Morocco — Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, is projected to produce around 100 combat vehicles annually and employ approximately 350 people.
