US $6 Billion Arms Sale to Israel

The Donald Trump administration has informed the United States of its plans to sell nearly $6 billion in weapons to Israel. This package includes $3.8 billion for 30 AH-64 Apache helicopters and $1.9 billion for 3,200 infantry assault vehicles, with deliveries expected in two to three years. This move signifies a fresh surge of support for Israel amidst its ongoing war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and increasing international isolation. The United States' decision comes as efforts to broker an end to the nearly two-year conflict have stalled, and after Israel's strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar — Doha, Qatar, drew widespread condemnation. Despite growing international pressure and attempts by some Senate Democrats to block offensive weapons sales, the Donald Trump administration has maintained its steadfast backing, reversing the Joe Biden administration's pause on 2,000-pound bomb shipments. Other nations, including the United Kingdom and Turkey, have taken steps to distance themselves from Israel's military actions, with the United Kingdom barring Israeli officials from an arms fair and Turkey closing its airspace to Israeli government planes. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also condemned Israeli attacks on Gaza as disproportionate. Donald Trump is also scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss potential purchases of Boeing aircraft and F-16 fighter jets.
