The children's remains were discovered in August 2022 in a storage unit in New Zealand — Auckland after Lee stopped paying rental fees. Lee was subsequently extradited from South Korea in November 2022. Justice Geoffrey Venning ordered Lee to remain in custody until her sentencing on November 26, where she faces a mandatory life sentence under New Zealand law.
