Denmark Bans Drones for EU Summit

Denmark has implemented a nationwide ban on civilian drone flights from Monday to Friday, coinciding with its hosting of a European Union summit in Copenhagen. This measure follows a series of mysterious drone sightings near military and civilian airports across Denmark since September 22, which led to airport closures and travel disruptions. Danish officials, including Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, have hinted at possible Russian involvement, describing the incidents as a 'hybrid attack' and identifying Russia as a primary threat to European security, although Russia denies these accusations. In response, NATO has upgraded its vigilance in the Baltic Sea region with enhanced surveillance and air defense assets, including a German air defense frigate deployed to Copenhagen. Other European countries like Sweden have also provided support. Violators of the drone ban face fines or imprisonment, underscoring the seriousness of the security situation.
