South Africa Ambassador Dies in Paris

Nathi Mthethwa, the South African ambassador to France, was found dead on Tuesday at the foot of the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile in Paris. His wife had reported him missing on Monday evening after receiving a worrying text message. Authorities, including the Paris prosecutor's office, confirmed that Nathi Mthethwa had booked a room on the 22nd floor of the hotel, where a secured window was found forced open. French media reported a suspected suicide, though an investigation by French authorities is ongoing. South Africa's foreign affairs department confirmed his death, calling it a 'national loss' and highlighting his distinguished career, including serving as Minister of Arts and Culture and Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture. He was also a member of the National Executive Committee and National Working Committee of the India — Indian National Congress.
