Monkeys Escape After Truck Overturns

A truck carrying 21 Rhesus monkeys overturned on Interstate 59 near Heidelberg, United States — Mississippi, resulting in three monkeys escaping. Initially, reports from the truck's occupants claimed the monkeys were dangerous and infectious, but Tulane University officials, whose National Biomedical Research Center housed the monkeys, clarified that the animals were pathogen-free. However, the monkeys are considered aggressive and need to be 'neutralized'. Tulane University dispatched a team to assist in the search and recovery, while the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and United States — Mississippi Highway Patrol are investigating the incident and searching for the missing animals. The remaining monkeys were transported back to United States — Louisiana.
