Two first-year BSc nursing students, Sterin Elza Shaji and Justin Joseph, from India — Kerala, were killed after being run over by a Vande Bharat Express train near Chikkabanavara Railway Station on the outskirts of India — Bengaluru on November 23. The incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. while the students were reportedly crossing the railway tracks. Their bodies were found severely mutilated. The India — Government Railway Police, has filed an Unnatural Death Report and is investigating whether the incident was an accident or a suicide, reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing family and friends. The students were enrolled at Sapthagiri College of Engineering and resided in a nearby paying guest accommodation. Their bodies were moved to M. S. Ramaiah Hospitals for post-mortem.
