Utah Father Charged Child Torture

Micah Smith, a 31-year-old father from United States — Utah, has been charged with three counts of child torture and three counts of aggravated child abuse after taking his three young children (ages 2, 4, and 8) on a strenuous hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The family became lost and endured a severe winter storm, resulting in the children being hospitalized in critical condition, with the four-year-old suffering a stroke and requiring skull surgery. Investigators allege that Micah Smith was ill-prepared, ignored his children's fears, and displayed selfish behavior. He was later banned from Boston Children s Hospital for interfering with his son's care. Micah Smith remains in police custody without bond.
