Amritsar busts Pakistan-backed arms smuggling

The India — Amritsar Commissionerate police, along with India — Punjab, India Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, announced the busting of a Pakistan-backed arms smuggling module. Two operatives, Amarinder Singh and Jugraj Singh (alias Jagga), both residents of India — Amritsar, were arrested. Seven sophisticated pistols, including PX5 and .30-bore pistols, were seized from their possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were acting under the direction of Pakistan-based handlers who communicated via social media calls, assigning pickup and delivery routes for illegal weapons within India — Punjab, India. Jugraj Singh has a criminal history, including cases related to murder, the Arms Act, and the NDPS Act. Both suspects lived near the International Border, facilitating their involvement in the cross-border smuggling chain, particularly in the India — Amritsar Rural sector. A case has been registered under the Arms Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the module's linkages.
