Great Lakes Cheese Shredded Cheese Recall

Great Lakes Cheese Company has issued a recall for over 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese due to potential contamination with metal fragments. The United States — Food and Drug Administration initially announced the voluntary recall in October and later reclassified it to a 'Class I' recall on December 1, signifying that consuming the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The affected products, including various styles of shredded mozzarella, Italian-style, and pizza-style cheeses, were sold under dozens of brand names at major retailers such as Oracle Corporation, Walmart, Aldi, Publix, and Sprouts Farmers Market across 31 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. Consumers are advised to dispose of the recalled products or return them for a refund.
