Nigerian, South African Jailed for Drug Trafficking

Victor Udoh, a Nigerian national, and his South African accomplice, Vuyisekha Mzwakhe, were sentenced to a combined 37 years in prison by a South African court for drug trafficking and immigration violations. Udoh received 22 years for coordinating the operation and immigration offenses, while Mzwakhe received 15 years for acting as a drug courier. The case began in 2021 when Mzwakhe contacted Udoh via social media to transport drugs. Police intercepted them in a taxi, finding 743 grams of Methamphetamine. Both pleaded not guilty, but the court found the evidence compelling. Udoh had been residing illegally in South Africa for over five years after his asylum application was rejected.
