Gbenga Hashim urges Northern elites

Presidential aspirant Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has called on Northern political and social elites in Nigeria to take responsibility for the escalating insecurity in the region. He also expressed strong support for the appointment of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as Nigeria's Minister of Defence, viewing it as a critical opportunity for concrete results. Hashim urged the executive and the Nigeria — National Assembly (Nigeria) to expedite legislation for state and local government policing structures, emphasizing that sustainable security reforms require strong local frameworks. He attributed the rise in extremist recruitment to deep poverty and decades of governance failures at state and local levels, compounded by the Sahel crisis. Hashim contrasted current Northern leadership with the integrity of the First Republic, advocating for leadership renewal to address the region's challenges.
